About Dean Butler

A 90's kid, Butler discovered filmmaking when he made a terrible VHS slasher at the age of 13, editing the 3 minute short with two VCR's cabled together. From then on he was hooked.

His award winning short films span horror, drama and comedy and have screened at festivals across the globe including Vancouver International Film Festival, Kansas City International, Telluride Horror Show, FilmQuest, Hollyshorts, New York Horror and Monsterfest to name a few.

‘A Shadow in the Darkness,’ a constrained covid era short, racked up over 3.5 million views on Facebook alone (ALTER) following a festival debut at Telluride Horror Show playing before Scott Coopers ‘Antlers.’

Butler’s most recent effort ‘Terror by Night’ is on the festival circuit now (2024/25) and he is currently developing his feature debut.
